Mining is one of the foundational industrial activities in EVE Online, focused on extracting raw ore from asteroid belts, ice fields, and special resource sites across New Eden. These materials form the base of almost every production chain in the game, feeding industry with the minerals required to build ships, modules, structures, and ammunition. Miners typically use mining lasers, strip miners, or drones to extract resources, often operating in fleets for efficiency and protection. Different regions of space offer different ores, creating natural regional economies and encouraging trade between highsec, lowsec, nullsec, and wormhole space.

Mining gameplay ranges from casual solo activity to highly organized, large-scale industrial operations supported by boosts, logistics, and capital ships like the Rorqual. As miners progress, they gain access to more efficient ships, better yield modules, and advanced techniques such as compression and fleet boosting, significantly increasing output per hour. However, mining also carries risk, particularly in lower-security space where player conflict is more common. The constant demand for minerals ensures mining remains a stable and essential profession, directly powering the entire player-driven economy and sustaining both industry and warfare across New Eden.
