EVE markets are regional. A buy or sell order in The Forge is not automatically visible or usable from Domain, Heimatar, Sinq Laison, Delve, or other regions. This regional structure creates price differences between hubs and remote markets, which is the basis for arbitrage and logistics trading.
A trader makes ISK from one or more of the following:
1. Spread capture: placing buy orders below sell orders and relisting acquired goods.
2. Convenience pricing: stocking items where players need them, not only where they are cheapest.
3. Regional arbitrage: buying in one region and selling in another.
4. Patch speculation: buying before demand rises or supply falls.
5. Logistics arbitrage: moving goods that others cannot or will not move.
6. Liquidity provision: buying unwanted inventory quickly and selling slowly at a premium.
7. Information advantage: using market charts, MER data, killboard trends, doctrine changes, and trade tools before competitors react.
